Commissioning Engineer

Matrix currently have a vacancy for a Commissioning Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a solid machine tool commissioning background (preferably in grinding type machine tools) and possess skills and experience in Siemens S7 PLC programming and Siemens 840D control systems.

Skills required:

• prepare functional design specification (FDS) for the machine and write commissioning test procedures
• design Siemens S7 PLC code from scratch using both ladder and complex statement list (STL) functions
• working knowledge of the Siemens 840D CNC systems,611D and SINAMICS drives
• configure PROFIBUS based equipment fitted to the machine
• setup and optimise NC servo controlled machine axes
• setup machine data parameters
• test all machine functions and failure mode conditions

This position is mainly in-house based at the Coventry site, but overseas travel may be required on occasions at short notice.

The successful candidate must have at least 5 years relevant experience working in the machine tool industry.

Salary: upto GBP 32k depending upon experience level
